Ultra fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)
Especially in overcast conditions when light intensity is constantly changing, an ultra-fast MPPT regulator improves energy output by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
Load output
Deep discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output disconnects the loads when the battery has been discharged to a preset voltage value. Alternatively, an intelligent battery management algorithm can be selected: see Battery Life. The load output is short-circuit proof. Some loads (especially inverters) are best connected directly to the battery. Inverter remote control is best connected to the load output. A special interface cable may be required, please refer to the manual.
Battery Life: intelligent battery management
If the solar charge regulator is not able to charge the battery to its full capacity within a day, the battery status will constantly alternate between "partially charged" and "end of discharge". This mode of operation (no regular full charge) will damage a lead-acid battery within a few weeks or months.The Battery Life algorithm monitors the battery's state of charge and if necessary, day after day, raises the load disconnect threshold (i.e., disconnects the load sooner) until the energy gained is sufficient to charge the battery to near 100%. From this point, the threshold for disconnecting the load is modulated so that charging to near 100% is achieved approximately once a week.
Monitoring and control
The charge regulator also features a programmable battery charging algorithm and a day/night time control with light dimming option. Monitoring can be done with the appropriate accessories either with a remote control or via a Bluetooth connection and a smartphone.
